All artworks are subject to an initial assessment prior to any restoration work being undertaken. This allows for the condition of the artwork to be evaluated and appropriate treatment options to be recommended.
All advice and proposed treatments are based on professional judgement and the visible condition of the artwork at the time of examination.
No restoration work will commence without the client’s approval of the proposed treatment.
In some cases, additional issues may become apparent during the restoration process. Should this occur, the client will be informed before proceeding with further work.
Oil painting restoration involves working with aged and often fragile materials. While every effort is made to ensure the highest level of care, all conservation treatments carry a degree of inherent risk due to the condition, age, and materials of the artwork.

Artworks that have undergone previous restoration may contain unknown or unstable materials. These may react unpredictably during treatment.

Artworks should be collected within a reasonable timeframe. While care is taken to ensure safe storage, Barnard Oil Painting Restoration cannot accept responsibility for artworks left uncollected for extended periods.
Photographs of artworks may be taken before, during, and after restoration for documentation purposes.
